What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

About the Artwork

The "artwork" on this site, including the "ads", are all photo composites, made with Gimp photo editor on an iMac (I used to always have PC's. This is my first Mac. I will NEVER go back).

Basically, I scoured the Internet for free photos, then "photoshopped" them, adding artistic effects, blurring edges, adding frames, creating composites, etc. It's a wonderful, creative outlet and loads of fun, if you're into that sort of thing.

For example, the "ad" I created below is for a fantastic website, makeuseof.com. I simply captured their logo and "list of topics" box, made a composite, colored the background to match my site, and voilá! A free ad for one of the most useful websites around. I figured they wouldn't mind a little free advertising (If they do, I'll remove it).

Why did I do it? Well first, if you're ever looking for a tech app to do this, that, or the other on, for example, your computer or iPhone, you'll find it on makeuseof.com, or you won't find it! And it'll be FREE. OK, maybe tucows or cnet will have it. But probably no one else.

Secondly, I'm going for a "magazine" effect here. I'm not sure I succeeded since I kept the CSS code so simple, but I tried. I really did. And magazines have advertisements, so I decided to attempt a few magazine-style ads. Not sure I succeeded with that, either. But the attempt was a blast!

And that's the story behind the "artwork", such as it is. Blame it on Pen-dragon.
