Thank You for Wedding Gift
The secret to a good thank you letter is warmth, sincerity (which can -- ironically -- be faked) and specificity. It's not enough to say, "Thanks for the gift! It's really nice and we are enjoying it!" Specifically mention the gift; say exactly why you think it's "nice" (use a more imaginative word!), and tell the giver precisely how you're enjoying it (even if you have to invent something). Follow these suggestions, and you cannot fail to write a great thank you letter! But if you just can't -- I can do it for you, as I think the following letter proves. I wrote it for a friend who just couldn't stand the hideous (her word) "nouveau" toaster, which she said couldn't toast bread to save its soul, if it had one. When she saw this letter, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry!
